Product Questions and Answers

Can this be used to seal and protect an oil painting that used odorless turpentine and boiled linseed oil as the medium?

- Asked by joe on 12-Jun-14

Clear Sealer is not recommended for use on oil paintings. We suggest using Blair's Spary Var or Liquitex Spray Varnish instead.

- Answered by MisterArt on 16-Jun-14

Will this work to seal painted glitter on the stem of a wine glass?

- Asked by Lori on 19-May-14

This sealer while compatible may reduce the sheen of the glitter. Try Glitter Blast Clear Spray Sealer which is specifically designed to keep glitter vibrant.

- Answered by MisterArt on 20-May-14

I decorated a picture frame using twigs, bark, and dried moss. Will this sealant keep the outdoor stuff from decomposing?

- Asked by Jennifer D on 27-Apr-14

This product will extend the life of the decorative frame as it protects the surface of each item; however, decomposition may still occur within the items over time.

- Answered by MisterArt on 29-Apr-14

Will this dry clear so that I can see my gold paint underneath?

- Asked by Shari Piaskowski on 24-Apr-14

When dry, the sealant will be clear, so the gold paint underneath will be visible.

- Answered by MisterArt on 29-Apr-14

Will this work as an adhesive as well as a top coat?

- Asked by Teresa B on 20-Mar-14

While it may have some adhesive properties, we do not recommend Clear Sealer for adhering pieces of a project together. Try Krylon's Spray Adhesive or Blair's Maximum Strength Spray Adhesive to create the project. Then apply Clear Sealer as a final top coat to add durability and protect the piece.

- Answered by MisterArt on 26-Mar-14

Clear Sealer creates a satin finish which reflects more light than matte and less than semi-gloss.

Can this product be used as an adhesive for glitter inside glass ornaments?

- Asked by kim on 19-Dec-13

This product may be applied to glass surfaces and glitter should stick to it while it is wet. Try spraying the inside of the glass ornament, apply glitter, and then spray another coat to seal glitter in place. Ideally, glitter should be mixed with the adhesive for an even application. We recommend trying Krylon's Glitter Spray or Tulip's Dimensional Fabric Paints Metallic, Sparkle which are also formulated to stick to glass.

- Answered by MisterArt on 19-Dec-13

The Krylon Satin Finish spray is moisture-proof and smudge proof. You can add a sealer as extra protection, but this would be optional.

- Answered by MisterArt on 16-Jul-13

This is a great sealant;it worked just as suggested. I use this for my metal embossing over alcohol paints to protect the paint. I received it just in time for a makeover. I will use again and again; a perfect finish.

I also intend using Make It Last on my grandparents antique oak bedframe after I oil it well and need to seal it off. This will prevent any buggies from getting in the old wood and boring holes, etc. Guess I'd better order some more because this looks like another multi-use product for me.

In scrapbooking my great great great grandfather's civil war era memorabilia, I wanted a clear coat over some journaling notes/tags, etc I did with calligraphy inks; this was the perfect thing; didn't run. The only adversity was spraying on thin, photocopies that it make curl slightly which was quickly remedied by placing the papers in a book (after it had dried completely) to flatten out. After reading some other reviews, may use it to seal off a pesky area (mitered corner) of marble shower wall that keeps trying to grow tiny specks of mold. My kids and myself are severely allergic to mold; as most ppl are, so this will be a godsend in that application. Recommend buying more than one can at a time because you will find more than one application for this product and this is the most economic place to get it; it's very pricey anywhere else!! Thx, MISTERART.COM!! :) for another great product!!

This is just what I needed. I used Stone It on my kitchen cabinets and I have a husband that leaves marks everywhere. This will protect my cabinets, and that will protect my husband. Great product!!!

I bought this and used it on Ceramics I made for people for x-mas, and I found it goes on smoothly and easily and did not require a second coat.

good sealant!

You will never believe what I used this for. To seal a bathtub that had been painted and the paint was chipping off. Sealed the edges all around that were loose. Will now finish with epoxy paint. Try it if you have this condition. Works wonders.

Works as advertised. Smooth, even, protective finish.
