Product Questions and Answers

We are starting to make outdoor birdhouses and some of our plans call for thinner plywood. I'd like to know if this plywood can be used for that purpose?

- Asked by Sheila McClurg on 06-Mar-14

Our thin birch plywood ranges in thickness from 1/64 in. to 1/4 in. It is commonly used for architectural models and other indoor crafts. This wood needs to be treated for outdoor projects. We have a Krylon Clear Wood Finish that helps to protect wood from the elements.

What is its density?

- Asked by Keni on 25-Jan-14

Birchwood has an average density approximately .67g/cm3 and is a strong, durable wood. Each item specifies the thickness of the board as well as the dimensions.

- Answered by MisterArt on 27-Jan-14

Is this weather-resistant?

- Asked by Bruce Gratz on 09-Dec-13

None of the wood we sell is weather-resistant as this is sold mainly for architectural model-making. I think the kind of wood you are looking for is more like what you'd find in a hardware store.

How many plies?

- Asked by Mordehai Gheva on 10-Dec-12

The Thin Birch Plywood by Midwest item number #44226 would be considered an 8 to 8 1/2 ply.

Used as sub-flooring for the deck on a model ship. It was perfect and very strong. Will use it again
Rated by: Fred G. in Atlanta, GA offers the best prices for this plywood by far. The prices on wood have gone up tremendously. I did a lot of research on this product and the price is unbeatable. This grade of thickness of wood is great if you need to use something that is thin and somewhat pliable but sturdy enough to withstand some wear and tear. Very satisfied with the product, the price, and the service.

I fly remote control airplanes and some times you have make repairs or rebuild and this plywood really comes in handy for the job. A good product. Thanks

The plywood was very good quality and packaged well for shipping to prevent any damage. Will use again.

Everything shipped and arrived as ordered. I appreciated the fact that everything was packed well to avoid damage during shipping since the plywood that I ordered was very thin and could probably be broken easily by improper handling. Thank you.

Thank goodness for Mr. Art. I was spending almost twice as much per sheet at my local craft store. Even with my Mr. Art membership and shipping fees I'm saving loads of money!

I can find plywood cheaper and larger, but the quality of this wood is exceptional. I will buy more.

Really happy with this plywood. I'm using it to refinish an old sewing cabinet and it is working out very well. This is the first time I've done this and so far I'm very happy with the results.

This ply saved the day for me. Comes in handy for many things, especially guitar repairs. Makes a great bridgeplate overlay for damaged plates.

A must for modeling and when you need a thin plywood for structural items, don't even think about using thin AC plywood when you want quality
