Unmounted Easy-to-Cut Linoleum

by Jack Richeson

This innovative material in battleship gray can be worked with traditional lino tools leaving beautiful clean edges. It works well with curved cut lines and tight corners, and the entire surface stays workable longer than traditional linoleum.

I am increasingly fond of this product: is really is easier to cut, while still firm enough to retain clean lines and edges. NOT squishy or crumbly! Note: IF you carve both sides, it will be more difficult to get good prints if you cut out large areas, though not a problem for narrow line work...
Great material, have had lots of success with my projects. Have used it in my ceramics projects.

This is too soft for my laser engraver, which is what I was looking for. I guess I should have inquired first.

I am an inexperience linoleum cutter, and have had a difficult time working with some of the harder, mounted linoleum blocks. To say the least, my results have been uninspired. I decided to try the Demco unmounted linoleum because I thought it might be easier to secure while carving, and because of its softer properties. So far, I have actually had some satisfactory success with this product. I am still working on a piece that I started about 3 weeks ago, because I am very slow at the job of carving, but I like the feel of this product and find it much easier to use, at least for a beginner. I would definitely use Demco's soft, unmounted linoleum again.

I would not buy this product again. The pieces I received were not uniformly cut. And they had a tendency to curl, causing flaws in printing. Pay a little more and get the wood-backed linoleum.

Love it, love it, love it!

This stuff does the job!

I love buying lino through this site. The only store that supplies it in my town charges $10 for a 12"x12" sheet. I used it the entire semester and think it's a great product.

Great product for linoleum printing!

i used this for my first experience with linoleum printing. it worked fine for me. it -is- pretty soft, by design, maybe too soft for some. but the price is good for learning.
