Product Questions and Answers

Some of my Lumiere paints have hardened. How can I make them usable again?

- Asked by Stampinmama on 14-Nov-13

If they are already hardened, it is too late to do anything. This is because acrylic is polymer (plastic). If they are at the stage where you can peel off the hardened shell and it is still moist underneath, then just plain water will make them usable.

Can I use Lumiere paint on canvas?

- Asked by Rita on 08-Jan-13

Yes, this paint can be used on canvas.

- Answered by MisterArt on 08-Jan-13

Can these paints be used on glass specifically on the bottom of a plate? Will the paint be permanent?

- Asked by carol n on 29-Aug-12

Lumiere Artist Acrylics can be used on glass, but need to be sealed with an acrylic varnish to ensure longevity. These paints are not food-safe or dishwasher-safe. You may consider a paint formulated specifically for glass painting, such as Pebeo Vitrea 160.

I love Jacquard Lumiere paints! I use them in my art quilts. The colors are strong and bright; they work well for stenciling, painting with a brush and for printing with screens and stamps

I use these paints with just about everything. I use them on polymer clay, wood tiles, paper mache boxes. The colors are AMAZING. They do tend to have a kind of weird smell, not toxic, just weird-But they only smell that way when you're painting it on, not once it's dry.

The Lumiere Colors by Jacquard is such a wonderful product. When using the Pearl White it may be blended with other colors and retain the pearl appearance or it may be used as a blaze over white. I was commissioned to create a table top replica of an Ornament that I created for the White House Christmas Tree in 2002. The Pearl White and Hi-Lite Violet worked wonderfully on the appearance of the Great Egrate in the scene. The Pearl Violet will be used in creating the Fleur de lie design on a gourd bowl. The coverage is excellent with no prior base coating applied. I intend to expand my color usage and eventually replace my other, more common acrylic brands with the Jacquard and intend to try more of their products. Thank you Jacquard, Susan

These paints are wonderful...they go on smooth and they just glow...I use them on clay, fabric, gourds, wood, and watercolor paper. Wish I could afford every color!

This one product continues to amaze me. No matter what surface I use it on, the result is always better than I expected. I've used it on wall pieces, silk clothing, modeling clay, wood, polymer clay, air dry clay, metal, cardboard, formica and the list goes on and on. If you can only have one toy to play with, I recommend this one!

The gold lumeire acrylic paint is so has a transparency that lets other colors show through, but provides a wonderful is one of my favorite colors to use...try it over bright colored inks/paints.

Great product to use with polymer can combine these with shaving cream (see Gwen Gibson's article in PolymerCafe) and do fabulous colors on polymer clay beads!

The colors are beautiful. It glides on easily and dries quickly; this is especially good for me since I am impatient and like to work quickly. It gives a pearl like effect, which I just love. I would definately recommend it for all your painting projects.

I screenprinted the Super Sparkle on an existing printed color and the results were awesome! The only problem was keeping the screen from clogging with the glitter particles and the medium dried pretty quickly so I was having to wash the screen between every few prints. The medium is fully washable and dryable as long as it is printed over a previously screened ink base.

These paints are simply to die for! The colors are shimmery and soft. Excellent for the collage work and handmade cards I create. I use Lumiere paint constantly in my work and have never been unhappy with the results.

Lumieres are fantastic! I work in altered books and they give a satiny/silky sheet to pages and make fabric-textured covers of books look like antique satin. The pages take on a flexible, fabric-like feel and it is NOT sticky as some acrylics are. Living in the South with humid summers, sticky pages are a problem. Will buy again!

Lovely colors but leaves silk rather stiff even after washing. Dries very quickly.

This is my first time buing/using these. I love them! They are beautiful on any surface. I used them for making cards and rubberstamping. Very easy to use.
Rated by: Crystal M. in Berkeley, CA
Wonderful product for a number of uses, including adding beautiful, sparkling accents to ceramics! I use it to paint mythical animals like dragons and unicorns. Go subtle or bold - they have both!
Rated by: Dragon L. in San Bernardino, CA
Great product. Covers paper, wood, plastic AND metal. I will buy again and again. Goes a LONG way, too. A bottle of this paint will paint lots of items. Well worth the price.
