These shimmering powders offer a range of dry and wet applications from stamping adhesives to clear acrylic mediums or shellac. You control the pigment content--use very little for a translucent veil of metallic or use more for a solid metal look. Specially selected for the professional faux finisher, architectural restorer, sign maker, or picture framer.

Metallic and Mica Powders are measured by weight; contents do not fill the jar entirely. The jars are sealed with a basic lid and have no additional tamper-proof seal.

Product Questions and Answers

I would like to apply this powder to fired ceramic work. What would I use as a topcoat?

- Asked by Annie on 16-Jun-14

Mix these powders with an clear medium such as Pebeo Acrylic Gel Mediums to make a liquid for application. A Duncan Accessory Product or a Ceramic Spray Sealer with the desired finish may be applied for the topcoat.

- Answered by MisterArt on 16-Jun-14

Is one of your silver powders so fine that if you put a little bit on your finger tip it should make a smooth coating with no grit?

- Asked by Anne Dimock on 26-Nov-13

If you order the item # 21765 (fine silver), these pigments are superfine and smooth, no grit.

- Answered by MisterArt on 27-Nov-13

Can you tell me if the lining powders are fine enough for use in chair stenciling?

- Asked by Anne Dimock on 26-Nov-13

They are formulated for faux finishes, so they should be good for stenciling on wood, mixed with the proper medium.

- Answered by MisterArt on 27-Nov-13

I'm looking for a medium-rich gold. Would you use the fine-rich gold?

- Asked by chris sturtz on 16-Oct-13

That would be the closest to it.

- Answered by MisterArt on 16-Oct-13

Can metallic powders be used with acrylic ink for artistic paintings?

- Asked by Janet on 06-Aug-13

They are recommended to be mixed with clear mediums because of the fact that when they are mixed with something pigmented, they don't mix very well, they kind of sink down beneath the already-mixed color.

- Answered by MisterArt on 07-Aug-13

I'm looking for a pewter-colored powder for bronzing an iron radiator. I have tried fine silver but it is far too bright.

- Asked by Tom E. on 09-Feb-13

The multi-leaf aluminum and / or the fine aluminum appear to be the closest color to pewter.

- Answered by MisterArt on 11-Feb-13

Do you have actual color sample kits of the Metallic and Mica Powders?

- Asked by Jerry on 17-Oct-12

We only offer the color swatches as a general guide. The finished color will vary depending on the mixing media as well as the surface you'll apply this to.

- Answered by MisterArt on 26-Oct-12

Which color is most like 24K gold leaf?

- Asked by Larry on 11-Oct-12

We suggest using the karat gold (item #84889).

I use these mica powders to coat my silicone molds for my resin-casting business. They do a beautiful job. The colors that are offered are very striking and give the appearance of real metal. I've ordered several times in the past and will do so again in the near future.'s packaging and shipping is top-notch.

Used for accenting a stained concrete floor--beautiful!! Would like to see a little bit better information on the product label (type is unreadable on jars) Other than that the product is outstanding and the color choices are outstanding!

These powders work beautifully mixed w/ texture pastes, paints etc as well as brushing directly on "set to tacky" glue areas, pigment colors and shades are up to you, awesome product!!
Rated by: John A. in New York, NY
Thus far these products have worked very well. The fact that I can control the amount of pigment is what really make the difference.

I use this product for stenciling & am thrilled with the results. Used after applying Rolco Aquasize, it yielded absolutely beautiful results.
Rated by: Jorge L. in West Milford, NJ
I combine this material with plastic resins to achieve a metallic look in plastic. For this application it is superb and yields interesting colors. The metal powders do react however with the resin so use as little as possible to achieve the desired effect otherwise you'll get a very hot mixture. I believe it will react with polyurethane stains and other types of coatings/paints. Also, the powder is very fine and dangerous to inhale (I learned this the hard way). A little of the powder goes a long way. A motorized stirring device will greatly facilitate uniformly mixing the powder. Stirring by hand is strenuous and may leave large blobs of unmixed powder.
