Saral Transfer Paper is wax free transfer paper (also known as graphite paper or tracing paper) made for general and specialized use that allows you to transfer your design from a sketch, pattern, template or free hand to any surface. It makes clean, crisp tracings that can be erased and painted over. It's great for tole painting, fabric painting, fine arts and watercolor painting, quilting, dress making, commercial and graphic arts, architecture, wood working, ceramics, stained glass, metal working and it's acid-free for scrapbooking.

Because Saral Transfer Paper is wax free it gives the advantage of erasing like pencil with no smear or smudge. It can be inked or painted over with no skipping or bleeding. The transfer lines can be sponged, washed out or brushed off of fabric, and a hot iron will not set Saral Transfer Paper as it will other tracing or transfer papers made for fabrics. Saral is economical and can be used again and again.

All Saral transfe papers conform to ASTMD-4236 and are certified by The Art & Creative Materials Institute as non-toxic, so they are suitable for use by children, as well as adults.

Transfer Paper Sampler Set contains one sheet each of white, graphite, yellow, blue, and red. Tole Painting & Decorative Crafts Set contains three sheets of white, one of graphite, and one of yellow.

Product Questions and Answers

I would like to ask you if this product is for engraving on wood? If yes what is the right kind to use?

- Asked by Adnan K Yamout on 26-Nov-13

If you are trying to transfer a design onto wood that you will then engrave, this product should work. If the wood is light, the all-purpose graphite would be the one to use, if the wood is dark-colored, use the white.

This is by far my favorite purchase from And I purchase so many different things from them all the time. I'd say, at the very least, once a month! This transfer paper is great on material, wood, glass, plastic, you name it and you can use this.

Thank you for the quick delivery of this wonderful drawing tool. I like to have yellow and blue on hand for transferring line work from tracing paper onto a canvas. I paint solid backgrounds shades and either one or thee other color will show up on any background, dark or light.

Sweet stuff! Even the graphite all-purpose works on black.

I had never used white graphite paper before. This is wonderful on dark papers etc. Now I will always stock it in my studio.

Graphite Paper helps you avoid the messy carbon paper smudges. I was out and was very happy when mine arrived from MisterArt.

It's a great product. However, I purchased the white for use on black surfaces and I have had trouble with the white powder being a very messy and hard to clean off. I would recommend the graphite for a black surface.
Rated by: Mike I. in Fort Worth, TX
Exactly what I was looking for. Far less messy than carbon paper, and gives an erasable impression that looks just like pencil. Fast service. I'm happy with my first purchase from

Saral is the best tracing/transfer paper I have found so far. We use the black and the white. It works great for transferring designs onto vehicles, helmets, metal signs, mailboxes, etc etc. My one complaint is that the black does leave smudges on 1-shot paint that are impossible to remove. So I prefer the white saral when possible. I will keep on using this product until a more perfect one is invented.

This product worked very well. It can be reused several times before it wears out and it erases off very easily.

I could always sketch a portrait perfectly, but then try to sketch it on canvas and always failed to get the perfection. This stuff is great!!! Now I can sketch it and transfer it to canvas.

I love this transfer paper. It works so much better then the carbon paper I was using. No wax, so paint stays where you put it.

I'm a beginning Watercolor painter, but love that this comes in a roll & I only have to work with the size I need.

I used the SARAL transfer paper to transfer a design onto enamel paint and it works great!
Rated by: Lisa S. in McKinney, TX
I love Saral paper! I only use it for transferring basic outlines so I am able to use it several times before cutting a fresh sheet.
Rated by: Ronald B. in Blowing Rock, NC
This white transfer paper is simply terrific. I have used a couple other brands and this exceeds the others by far. The transfer is clean and clear even if the surface is not entirely dark. I have used the same sheet cut from the roll several times and it is still working great!

Before this i made my own paper using charcoal or pencil. This is so much easier, and the papers are definitely for long term use, not for just a few times. It erases very easily, easier then what i had made with charcoal or pencil. Try out the sample if you are not sure, or if you just need a little, it will last a long time. you wont be disappointed. great bargain.

I was very pleased with the paper. I suggest you use one sheet per drawing and don't try to stretch by using the same paper twice.

This product works great on frisket for cutting stencils. I was very pleased with the results.
Rated by: Marie H. in Custer, SD
Saral transfer paper is the best I've found for transferring images onto wood. The clear lines it leaves are fantastic and it erases after I'm done woodburning. It is a tremendous help in my profession.
Rated by: Nicole K. in salt lake city, UT
Works great for scratch board art.
Rated by: Kim W. in South Paris , ME
This paper works fantastic for woodburning patterns! Erases easily and doesn't clog up the pen as much as the graphite paper seems to.

I have used saral for years and wouldn't consider using anything else. I works wonderfully and erases or washes off easily. I prefer white which I use almost exclusively but sometimes use the graphite

This is the best tranfer paper that I have tried. It works on canvas, watercolor paper and etc. with the same great results. It erases without smugging. Once you try it you will only use this product for tracing.
