Lite Pour-On High Gloss Finish

by EnviroTex

EnviroTex Lite is a pour-on plastic finish that preserves and beautifies. It cures to a thick, glossy coating in about 8 hours at 70°F, and reaches full strength and toughness in about 48 hours. This durable, resilient material requires no polishing to produce a high gloss.

One coat is all that is usually required for a deep attractive finish. However, two or more coats may be applied one over the other by simply wiping the surface with alcohol and a clean cloth prior to recoating.

EnviroTex Lite can be used on photos, ink, plaster, paint, wood, and table tops. One coat equals up to 50 coats of varnish.

Coverage areas may vary according to the surface and method of application. It is recommended that too much be mixed for a project rather than not enough.

8 oz. Kit can cover 2 square feet.
The Pint Kit can cover 4 square feet.
The Quart Kit can cover 8 square feet.
The Half Gallon Kit can cover 16 square feet.
The Gallon Kit can cover 32 squre feet.

Product Questions and Answers

Ask a Question
Ask a Question

Can this be used outside? What do extreme temperatures do to this product?

- Asked by John Tice on 07-Sep-13
Answer

The EnviroTex Pour-On High Gloss Finish is not recommended for outdoor use. Exposure to constant sunlight or high temperatures will cause the compound to soften and become cloudy in color. Also, extreme heat will cause items left on top to leave an impression over time.

- Answered by MisterArt on 09-Sep-13

Would this be appropriate to use to finish a bathroom vanity top I am creating from an old bureau? I am concerned how it will react when wet.

- Asked by Leslie E. Bush on 13-Jun-13
Answer

It would be perfect. When cured, this product is waterproof.

- Answered by MisterArt on 13-Jun-13

I want to use it for a bar top. How do you apply it so it doesn't drip down the sides?

- Asked by Betty on 10-Jun-13
Answer

Ordinarily one would simply put a cloth, or newspapers, below the surface to catch any drips, but it sounds as if you want to prevent the drips altogether. You may be able to apply a silicone glue, wax glue, wax paper, or tape around the edges that can peel off afterward. Ordinarily EnviroTex Tex can be scraped off the edges up to about 30 minutes after application, but it's also good to wipe them off during application while they are still wet.

Can EnviroTex Lite be poured on ceramic tile?

- Asked by Ken N. on 04-Jun-13
Answer

You should be able to apply this over ceramic tile no problem.

- Answered by MisterArt on 05-Jun-13

Can I seal with lacquer prior to using EnviroTex?

- Asked by Ken N. on 04-Jun-13
Answer

You can seal before using EnviroTex if you want, but the product acts as a sealant in of itself, too, if you apply thin layers before flooding. However, if you use a lacquer before then it must be sanded and wiped with rubbing alcohol first.

- Answered by MisterArt on 05-Jun-13

Are there any problems with this product yellowing over time?

- Asked by BeckyVN on 01-Jun-13
Answer

Over exposure to high heat and direct sunlight will cause the pour-on-gloss to amber over time.

- Answered by MisterArt on 03-Jun-13

I have unopened containers of this finish and they have been on my shelf for two years can I still use this product?

- Asked by Neffy on 30-May-13
Answer

If the unopened containers have been stored at the right temperature (not too hot or in direct sun, etc.) then they should be fine. In fact, they should be fine for many years (possibly more than 10).

- Answered by MisterArt on 30-May-13

I don't think I waited long enough to apply the second coat because it isn't drying well. It isn't sticky to the touch. Anything I can do to dry this? Time in the oven? Put a fan on it?

- Asked by Carleton Wing on 29-May-13
Answer

Heat that speeds up the drying time as well as low humidity, so finding a way to place the object at a higher temperature with lower humidity should work best. Expect up to 72 hours before it is completely cured. I would not put it in the oven however, as extreme heat can cause it to become cloudy and flexible enough to move.

- Answered by MisterArt on 29-May-13

Can I use it over a copper table top?

- Asked by Marcos on 25-May-13
Answer

It can be applied over metal surfaces.

- Answered by MisterArt on 29-May-13

Is it OK to apply it to wood stained with Minwax?

- Asked by lee h. on 24-May-13
Answer

As a general rule, it can be applied to anything as long as it is in it's completely cured state (If there is actual wax in the product, though, it is repelled by wax).

- Answered by MisterArt on 24-May-13

I am pouring it on a bar top measuring 2' x 10' so should I have an extra person with 2 torches?

- Asked by lee h. on 24-May-13
Answer

The manufacturer actually recommends an extra pair of hands when doing larger surfaces.

- Answered by MisterArt on 24-May-13

Can I use an electric heat gun instead of a torch?

- Asked by lee h. on 24-May-13
Answer

You can use an electric heat gun.

- Answered by MisterArt on 24-May-13

I bought a 1 gallon kit, mixed it as directed, and poured it onto a wood-painted floor. After 2 days and temps of 80 degrees the surface is still tacky. What do I need to do to get it to harden?

- Asked by Bill on 12-May-13
Answer

Unfortunately, you probably didn't mix it exactly as noted in the instructions. Varying the mixture can cause the product to remain tacky longer than the normal required curing time. Also, it is important to mix twice in two separate containers.

- Answered by MisterArt on 21-May-13

Can I restore old items with this product, even if the item appears to have been used with a similar product many years ago?

- Asked by KAY on 28-Apr-13
Answer

This product is not used for restoration. This is used to add a glossy top coat to a project. Ideal for use on photos, ink, plaster, paint, wood, and table tops.

- Answered by MisterArt on 01-May-13

Can I thin this product to saturate the wood I'm using?

- Asked by Chazmo on 26-Apr-13
Answer

Environmental Tech does not make a thinning agent for the EnviroTex Pour-On High Gloss Finish. However, you can mix one to two ounces per square foot and spread it thinly over the entire surface using a plastic spatula or stiff pieces of paper if you want to put a thin coat over the surface (per the manufacturer).

- Answered by MisterArt on 30-Apr-13

Is this the same as EnviroTex Jewelry resin?

The EnviroTex Pour-On High Gloss Finish and the Jewelry Resin are both manufactured by Environmental Tech. However, these are different products and are for different uses.

How can I remove paper stuck on the bottom while the granite tile was drying?

My bar top is a slightly uneven natural slate tile and it is bordered by cedar. Will this product work for me?

- Asked by Billy Monaghan on 11-Apr-13
Answer

The EnviroTex Lite instructions do suggest for use on an even surface. If you are able to balance the table by putting something underneath one side to make it even then this product would be easier to use.

- Answered by MisterArt on 11-Apr-13

I'm using EnviroTex Lite to cover photo pictures for jewelry and it discolors the picture. Is there any way to avoid this?

- Asked by Val Leri on 11-Apr-13

While it can be used on paper and photos, EnviroTex Lite is not acid-free or archival. Therefore it is possible that some yellowing may occur.

Overall, this product sucks. Following directions to the letter, success rate was less than 50%. We measured exactly, timed the mixing with a stop watch, poured as directed, and chased bubbles with a flame torch. Most would continue to bubble in the same spots till the product set. Water based stain,3 coats of Elmer's glue with drying time in between coats. Mixing in two new containers each time. New stirring stick each time. Nothing raised the success rate. I believe it has inconsistency in the manufacturing.

I use this product and can't fine it in stores.

This stuff is great!!!! I made a mistake and tried to use a casting resin for the top of this bar. Major mistake! I called Enviromental Tech Company and received great service and they said to use Pour On. I could not believe how easy it was to use with little to no odor. I strongly suggest a propane torch if you have an area bigger than a couple of feet. I will never look for another product for a bar top.

I couldn't find this product sold anywhere here! I am so happy to find it online and even happier with it's results!
Rated by: tom t. in salt lake city, UT
this was very easy to use. the art works that I used it on came out great. I give it my highest rating. But it is a must to let it dry in a dust free room, or cover the item until it dries which is not hard to do.
Rated by: Marcia T. in Albany, NY
I needed a less time consuming method of applying a thick poly coating to a commercially used decoupaged bar. This was IT!! Shiny and perfect, self leveling. An inexpensive propane torch got out all the initial bubbles-- and don't forget to mask the sides of what you are covering.. I think I may have poured it on too thick because it dripped a fair amount..(though it was better not to run out of mixed product in the middle of the application process). The final product is beautiful!

i used this for my bar top and it worked out great. the best coating that i've found.
Rated by: Maria A. in Las Vegas, NV
I have searched high and low for a clear coating to cover carved woodblocks. This product is not only the best, it is IT! Perfect covering everytime, crystal clear, easy to use, time saving over spraying individual coats of polyurethane, durable beautiful finish.
Rated by: Ann A. in Sunrise, FL
This product is terrific!! It is clear, and can be used on almost any surface. It is self leveling so it is easy to work with. I have used it to seal mosaic counter tops and to finish tile table tops. I love it!

For a terrain modeler, this material is indispensable.
Rated by: karen s. in akron, OH
The product was great. I loved the results on my table.
Rated by: Caryl L. in Moore, SC
This was very easy to use. Even with shipping the price was better than I could find locally- if I could find the product at all.
