If you use a lead holder (not a automatic pencil) this is the only lead sharpener that works well. I had the Alvin tub sharpener, and there is no comparison. All other tub sharpeners are lead breakers. This one sharpens. The moment you hold it, its quality is immediately evident. I use the Staedtler Lead Holder 2mm, and this sharpener is the perfect compliment.

The Berol Mars Lead Pointer Tub is a great sharpener. I recently took it with me to Hawaii. I passed security with it as there are no blades in the sharpener and used it on the 5 hour flight both directions.

Fantastic pointer! Sharpens perfect every time. It takes a little patience to sharpen blue leds, though.

This is an excellent lead pointer for a simple hobbyist like myself. My main complaint is that I've had the lead break twice while inserting it in the pointer, but that's probably due to my inexperience rather than due to an inherent design flaw. A+
