Winsor & Newton Calligraphy Inks are formulated with carefully chosen pigments to ensure maximum brilliance of color. They are lightfast, non-waterproof, non-clogging, and particularly suited for calligraphy.

Gold, silver, white, and matte black are suitable for use with dip pens and brush. All other inks are suitable for use with dip pens, fountain pens, technical pens, and brushes.

Single pigments have been used wherever possible to make clean color mixtures. All colors have a permanence rating of AA or A. The inks come in 30 ml bottles.

Product Questions and Answers

Does this ink work with a .03 mm Rapidograph pen?

- Asked by Ariel on 02-Jun-13
Answer

Although it states that it is non-clogging, I would not try it in a technical pen, as the points are much finer than a calligraphy fountain pen. It would most likely clog the fine point and not flow.

I use this ink when I'm correcting or editing other people's papers. I feel like Severus Snape when I use this! I love it!

This is good ink. However, if you are buying ink for a Speedball Oblique Pen, then don't get this ink for the simple reason that the pen does not fit in the mouth of the ink jar.
Rated by: Shauna S. in Queens, NY
Very even ink, sits well so while it is great to add into art, also is befitting of a casual letter.

I am a newbe at calligraphy so this is not an expert opinion but I have had a lot of fun using all of the five different colors and they all seem to work quite well. I would have thought that the sepia would have a bit more of a yellow cast though.
Rated by: Andrea T. in Blue Ridge, GA
Winsor & Newton are my favorite inks to work with - they are easy to use and the colors turn out just beautifully in the final piece. I especially enjoy gold and silver!
Rated by: Pamela R. in Alexandria, VA
The ink writes very smoothly, even with a glass tip pen, and the color is rich and vivid.

Ink flows evenly and color is dark and brilliant.

I ordered the gold ink to use for calligraphy on wedding invite envelopes and it's beautiful...the order was easy and arrived promptly.
Rated by: Patterson T. in Virginia Beach, VA
All these inks are good quality, free flowing with dipping calligraphy pens. MisterArt has become our stationary store.
Rated by: Donn K. in Live Oak, FL
I've only used the ink as a sketch medium and it does very well. I've never used colored ink before so I can't say too much more except I like what it does.
Rated by: Pat A. in Springfield, IL
Good quality, long lasting and easily mixable

I use it for drawing and sketching and it works perfectly. Great ink.
Rated by: Laura P. in Annapolis, MD
I purchased the crimson ink for an artist friend of mine, who was thrilled with both the flow and pigment.
Rated by: Eling C. in Lexington, MA
Beautiful colors and easy to use, though the metallics (silver and gold) tend to be a little thick.
Rated by: Cait D. in San Jose, CA
I purchased two colors--sepia and gold. Both are well flowing, easily controlled and self levelling inks. The sepia tends to be transparent, which I found a bit frustrating. Bottles last a long time--good economy purchase.
Rated by: Jennifer H. in Los Angeles, CA
Great! Great! Great!
Rated by: Justin E. in Spirit Lake, IA
This is great ink and in a very nice glass bottle also.

Windsor Newton ink is the BEST and Mister Arts is the best place to obtain this ink at a wonderful price. I ordered silver ink to do calligraphy on black envelopes. Needless to say everything turned out wonderful!!
Rated by: Daniel N. in Elk Horn, IA
As a professional pointed pen artist, I require inks that flow easily from my pen and give me very fine hairlines. The Winsor & Newton Gold does just that. It is an excellent choice for the pointed pen artist, especially when used on very dark papers!
