Derwent Inktense Pencils are pure, vibrant water-soluble ink pencils. They combine the intensity of pen and ink with the versatility of line and wash. Use to create strong, vivid tones then apply a light water wash to achieve a translucent, ink-like effect. Wash the pigment out completely and once dry, the color will be permanent and can be worked over again with both soluble and non-soluble media. The possibilities are endless, the results stunning.

Product Questions and Answers

What is the difference between Derwent watercolor pencils and Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils?

- Asked by JanieO on 14-Jun-13

The Inktense pencils are actually ink, they stain like ink, and they are much more permanent than a regular watercolor pencil, so you can do more things with them, like completely wash it out, and the image stays, and can be re-worked with any media. The Inktense pencils are actually darker in color, as well, whereas the watercolor pencils come off softer than one would expect when water is applied.
