I love the effect I can get with these water soluble pastels! I have used them along with soft pastels to add more depth of color. They blend well with other types of pastels. Great product!

Use as a furniture stain on raw furniture. Just scribble on and work in with damp cloth. You can blend many colors and get wonderful effects. I did chairs and never got around to sealing them. Wet bathing suits did not even distrub the color after they had cured for a few days.

I purchased this set for my children to use for some of their art projects. They really loved using these artist crayons. Once you add water, the colors become magnificent. My childrens' pictures brillantly came to life. We are all pleased with this product.

I first did my review in 2005 and thought I would do an update. I have used these on leather ... to accent designs. I use an acrylic finish (liquid) or water as the thinner and then finish with a spray acrylic finish to set the colors. Sometimes I work with a brush to the crayon and then to the leather and sometimes I 'scribble' on a card or ceramic tile and then use the brush from the card/tile to the leather. The latter allows for blending of colors. I love using these crayons and the affect is outstanding!

These pastels are creamy and delicious. Love them.

These are for the really serious artist who prefers to do landscapes.

I have never used water color crayons before. I was surprised at how fun they were. You could just use them as regular crayons but when you paint with the water the color comes alive and makes your painting more brilliant and you feel like a real artist! I decided I would like to make an art project also and not just watch the kids.

These are the best! I had tried several other brands and found that most lacked quality. After trying Caran d'Ache, I will never buy/try any others again. They work so well in so many amazing ways!
Rated by: delores g. in east saint louis, IL, just wanted you to know I am quite pleased with my purchase. It arrived very quickly and was everything I expected. I am so glad I found your site, and I will ordering all of my art supply needs from you! Thank you again!

Was wary at first using 'crayons' after being proficient in oil pastels and watercolor pencils--thought they might feel amateur, but they are great! The colors are rich and go on well. Highly recommend them!

My kids and I had never worked with this sort of thing before. My kids found these easy to use and really enjoyed making pictures with them. Only 1 crayon broke during 3 kids use--which is pretty incredible since my kids are always breaking crayons.

Excellent quality and fun to use. Would recommend these to anyone!

These give solid color & they dry even if heavily applied (unlike oil pastels.) Their 84 set needs more than one white, or better yet,a colorless (?)neocolor II pastel for blending. They blend very well with fingers, but an unfixable problem if accidentally using a darker finger on a lighter color! Blending tools do not work on these. A wet cloth blends but be careful!!

With a bit of water, these pastels just explode with color - I haven't used water-soluble pastels that were this responsive before.

These are excellent for touching up wallpaper especially problem seams.
Rated by: Dawn C. in Dallas, TX
The crayons have a vibrant color, but are not smooth unless mixed with something.
Rated by: Heather T. in Kalama, WA
Fun stuff. Works great on any toothy paper--scribble, then blend with a flat brush. Tried to use it on rubber stamps, and it works if you want a soft blobby look.
Rated by: Kelly C. in Camden, NC
I absolutely LOVE these crayons. The color selection is fabulous, and the ease with which the color goes onto the paper is amazing. Have been thrilled with the end result here, and plan on using them on many more projects. A worthwhile investment for sure.

I love using these crayons with my rubber stamps. My first box had 10 colors but I love the technique so much I bought the larger box. A must have for any art room

These are the best! A very satisfing experience. The effects when you paint over with water are beautiful.

I find these to be the best coloring medium to use on leather. I scribble some of the crayon on a 3x5 card and then I use Supershene as the liquid on the brush to apply the color to the leather. Easy for kids and adults to use and has a fantastic appearance. So far very sun resistant.

I utilize these at my restaurnat for a daily specials board. I can tell you there are other "crayons" out there but these are the best, vivid, imaginitive colors, and i must say they last a long time also! :0)

My kids (12, 10, & 8) LOVE these crayons. I love these crayons. It's so much easier to create different colors and effects than with traditional watercolor paints (at least at our level) and much less messy.

My 8 year old and I have used this in an art curriculum. We both think they work really well and make a very pretty picture.

I love these for doing altered books and doing background papers. I have never found anything that works as well for journaling and altered books.
Rated by: Lyn H. in Worthington, MA
Caran d'ache Watercolor crayons are the most flexible and have the most vivid, rich and varied color range that I have found. They work exceptionally well when the drawing process warrants mixing colors, with or without the utilization of water on the surface. The abstract nature of my work does not necessarily require precision, but the crayons's use with other paint and drawing media also contributes to their elasticity of application. In fact, I feel like I am a kid again when I use them. It makes me very happy.
Rated by: Catrina A. in N., MN
These are wonderful! They mix beautifully wet or dry. You can use them like water colors or use them dry. Just love them. Wish now that I would have purchased the largest set.

I am so excited about my new mega set of Neocolors! The variety and quality of the hues is unmatched in any other supplies I have ever used. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for the best in watercolor crayons, or any other medium available from Caran D'ache--they are awesome...some of my most prized art supplies.
Rated by: Krysia K. in Greeley, CO
These pastels are truely the best I have ever used! Not only do they blend beautifully with very little effort but they are so easy to manipulate to get mulitple looks in your paintings.
