Do I put the soda ash dye fixer in the hot water along with the dye at the same time - in a washing machine?- Asked by george overlock on 16-Feb-13
Soda Ash is necessary to activate and set Procion MX dye. For tie dye (pre-soak method): Use one cup per gallon of warm water. Soak fabric in mixture for 20 min. Squeeze/wring out excess solution by hand. Do not rinse out. For immersion dyeing cellulose fibers: Use 1/4 to 1/3 cup per 3 gallons of water. Add to dye bath per instructions. For dyeing cellulose fibers in washing machine: Use 2-3 cups per load. Dissolve in 1 quart hot water. Gradually add to dye bath in washer per instructions.- Answered by MisterArt on 21-Feb-13
