About 20 years ago in Princeton, New Jersey, Howard Kaufman began a small brush business near his home. Howard posessed a vast knowledge of brush-making, and an understanding of the needs and desires of painters.

He then began collaborating with Naohide Takamoto, the third-generation of Japan’s revered Takamoto brush-making family.
