Product Questions and Answers

I am looking for Hunt Globe 513H calligrapher's nibs for a watercolor painting class. How does 513EF compare to 513H?

- Asked by Ann Marie on 04-Sep-13

The Globe 513 Series is a bowl shaped nib for industrial arts. The only one we carry is the 513EF, meaning extra-fine, so it is probably finer than the 513H.

I recently discovered dip pens and was fortunate enough to find someone who let me try out all sorts of nibs. The Hunt 513EF was by far my favorite. I had great line control and the nib held a fair amount of ink. Definitely give this nib a go.

I have been using the 513EF for some time now... It works well for drawing - and with a fair amount of practice - for writing/lettering as well... It's length (a good sized nib) along with a fair capacity of ink make it an easy favorite of mine...

This nib produces a smooth and comfortable line, one that I prefer for journaling and sketching.

I prefer this pen for professional cartoons. I like the feel and the line the pen produces.

Hunt Globe quills provide soft, smooth lines. I like to use them either to draw fast impressions or writing odd letters. In my opinion they are harder to control than the crow nibs. Cool results, though.
